Getting Started with Youth and Children's Ministry

FIRST STEPS

1. Email Lisa Aycock, lead youth missioner; Leah Dail, assistant youth missioner; and Amy Campbell, children and family minister, to introduce yourself.
2. Sign up for the monthly youth ministry newsletter.
3. Verify you are up-to-date on your Safe Church Training. If not, learn more and register for a session.
4. Join a monthly youth leaders call for networking, peer support and the resources Trello board.
5. Familiarize yourself with diocesan youth events:

• Bishops' Ball
• Genesis
• Happening
• HUGS Camp
• Annual Convention
• Dismantling Racism

During the last three years, the children's and youth ministries department of the Diocese of North Carolina has developed a practical and relevant resource for all those who work with children and youth. This best practices document includes matters of transportation, medication, supervision, and, yes, even technology, including social media and texting.
