Youth Ministry and Intergenerational Story-Sharing Webinar

Youth Ministry and Intergenerational Story-Sharing Webinar

When it comes to church, youth (ages 13-18) often have the least voice in our faith spaces. Why is it that youth often do not experience belonging in our faith communities? Why is it hard for youth to share authentically or build relationships with elder generations in church? Why is it that youth often feel tokenized, or used, when it comes to serving in the church?

The Rev. Valerie M. Grissom, chair of InterGenerate and project manager for the IYS Youth Story Project, will share how the The Mutual Interview Tool was developed to address power dynamics that prevent youth from participating in intergenerational faith communities; how mutual, intergenerational story sharing addressed these unhealthy power dynamics; and important learnings regarding the power of practicing mutuality when it comes to ministry with all ages.

This webinar is free and open to formation leaders, clergy, lay leaders, caregivers and others in the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina who are curious about how to build a disciple-making church culture for all ages.

Questions? Please contact the Rev. Kelly Ryan, canon missioner for discipleship.
