Registration is Open for Diocesan Pilgrimage to Wilmington, NC
Announced earlier this year, registration is now open for the diocesan pilgrimage to Wilmington, North Carolina.
Based on the book Wilmington's Lie by David Zucchino and the subject of the diocesan book study currently underway, the pilgrimage is taking place May 10-12. Participation in the book study is not required to take part in the pilgrimage, but it is recommended that the book be read before departure.
Throughout the three days, pilgrims will integrate learning and experiences from the book with worship and reflection. The pilgrimage includes bus transportation to and from St. Luke’s, Durham, and lodging at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Wilmington. Upon arrival in Wilmington, the pilgrimage begins at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church with a meal on Friday night and conversation with the congregation. On Saturday, the day will be framed with a visit to St. James Episcopal Church and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Pilgrims will visit St. James and the Bellamy Mansion Museum, and participate in a riding tour of Wilmington with WilmingtoNColor. Saturday will end with dinner and conversation at St. Paul’s. On Sunday, pilgrims will worship and enjoy conversation with the congregation of St. Mark’s. The bus will then return to St. Luke’s in Durham.
Driving yourself and arranging your own accommodation are options. When registering, you will see each of those choices. Each person must register separately. If you are registering for a double room, both people will register and give the name of the person sharing the room. There is no discount for driving yourself. People driving themselves will be part of the group and will be able to travel with the group on the bus in Wilmington.
