The Diocese of North Carolina Announces Departure of Amy Campbell
The Diocese of North Carolina announces today that Amy Campbell, children and family missioner, is departing diocesan staff to answer a full-time call in youth ministry at St. Mary’s, High Point.
“Amy has had a profound impact on youth ministry in the Diocese,” said the Rt. Rev. Sam Rodman, bishop of the Diocese of North Carolina. “Her passion for her work has always been evident in her enthusiasm, dedication and creativity. With her focus on children and family ministry, her skills have played an especially pivotal role in helping families navigate a complicated road during the pandemic. We are deeply grateful to have been the recipients of her gifts during her years on staff, and she is leaving a legacy we will work hard to honor and continue.”
Campbell joined the diocesan staff in 2014, first as a youth missioner before moving into her current role as children and family missioner in 2018. Throughout her time on diocesan staff, she also served in youth ministry in a part-time capacity at St. Mary’s.
“It has been a great gift and blessing to work so closely with Amy,” said Lisa Aycock, lead youth missioner for the Diocese of North Carolina. “She is not only a valued member of the youth department, but she is a dear friend. She will be greatly missed, but we can’t help but be happy for Amy that this new position is so compatible with where she wants to be at this time in her family’s life.”
“I have been truly blessed to be a member of the diocesan staff over the past nine years,” said Campbell. “The relationships I have made and the ministry I have been a part of overwhelm me with thanksgiving. I am looking forward to focusing more energy on my immediate community while continuing to support and advocate for connection and collaboration across the Church.”
Though Campbell is departing diocesan staff, her gifts for youth ministry will still be part of the Diocese. She looks forward to maintaining her relationships with leaders across the Diocese, as well as taking part in diocesan events such as Bishops’ Ball and remaining a part of the diocesan network of youth ministers and leaders. She will also continue in a consulting capacity for the Diocese around Safe Church training.
“We’ll miss seeing Amy every day,” said Aycock, “but we are blessed and grateful that she will still be part of the work we do. We’re excited to see what’s ahead for St. Mary’s youth ministry under her leadership.”
Campbell’s last day is December 31, 2022.
