Our department works with young people, 6th through 12th grade, and their families to come together to grow in spiritual formation and develop leadership within the church. This mission includes supporting youth, their leaders, and congregations in their ministries.

As of January 1, 2019, Lisa is the lead youth missioner in the Diocese of North Carolina.
She and her husband Ricky live in the country with their two exceptional young adults, three Labs and a flock of chickens. In her free time Lisa enjoys photography, painting, and spending time outdoors and at the beach.

Leah is a native North Carolinian, born and raised in Raleigh. She majored in English and American Studies at UNC-Chapel Hill and stayed there to work at the NC Jaycee Burn Center. She is married to Rick Schertz, and they have four children and two dogs. After a 15-year career at home with her kids, she was the youth minister at St. Paul’s, Cary, for six years. She enjoys reading, gardening and playing games with her family. Leah is based out of the Raleigh office.

February 28, 2026: Day Event for Youth 6-12 Grade
- 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Location TBD in Rocky Mount Convocation
- Day event full of fun, youth-led activities including music, energizers, workshops and worship. Lunch is included.
April 25, 2026 Earth Day Celebration for Children, Youth and Families
- 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Location TBD in Greensboro area
- Day event about creation care and the environment, full of fun, youth-led activities including music, energizers, workshops and worship. Lunch is included.
