COSTA RICA

Last Updated: December 24, 2025

The Diocese of North Carolina has had a companion diocese partnership with the Diocese of Costa Rica since 1997. The diocese is led by Bishop Orlando Gomez, who frequently joins us at our Annual Convention.

The companion relationship between the Diocese of North Carolina and the Diocese of Costa Rica has flourished into a vibrant international partnership, centered in the pursuit of true mutuality and relationship. Every year, the Diocese of Costa Rica invites a growing number of churches from all around North Carolina to visit them and work with them on outreach projects, and parishioners from Costa Rica visit the United States to learn English, participate in vestry formation workshops and help begin Spanish-language ministries.

Planning a mission to Costa Rica or looking for more information? Contact Allie Norman, companion officer to the Diocese of Costa Rica.
