WELCOME
We are 42,000 Episcopalians gathered into 105 congregations and 10 campus ministries throughout the central 38 counties of North Carolina. Throughout our congregations, you will find everything from large churches teeming with families in the centers of North Carolina’s most populous cities to small, tight-knit communities of retirees in the state’s many rural areas.
No matter where you travel throughout our diocese, you will find communities living into our five missional priorities: racial reckoning, justice and healing; congregational vitality; formation; collaboration and new communities; and creation care. Together, we are living into God’s vision of the beloved community.
The Diocese of North Carolina unites ancient faith and inclusivity by cultivating a community around worship, spiritual growth, and relationships with God and each other. Respecting and celebrating the dignity of every human being, we embrace all people, and serve with vibrant, diverse congregations who connect in finding joy and belonging through Christ’s love.
We go forth, as disciples, to offer God’s reconciling love to all people, with special concerns for those on the margins whom the church has hurt.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina acknowledges and pays respect to past and present tribal members of the Indigenous nations who were forcibly expelled from the lands the Diocese of North Carolina now occupies or who experienced exploitation at the hands of white people: the Catawba, Cheraw, Chowanoc, Coharie, Eno, Haliwa-Saponi, Keyauwee, Lumbee, Meherrin, Occaneechi Band of the Saponi Nation, Sappony, Shakori, Sissipahaw, Sugeree, Tuscaroram Waxhaw, Weapemeoc and Woccon. Standing in solidarity with all who are oppressed, we deplore the hatred and violence shown historically and in the present to Indigenous, Black, LatinX and Asian people, Pacific Islanders, and all other oppressed persons. We will continually seek to dismantle the racism that threatens us all as human beings.
