Bishops of the Diocese of North Carolina Respond to Today’s Military Strikes in Iran

Feb 28, 2026 | News, Press Room, Uncategorized

In the wake of today’s military strike on Iran, we join the voices around the world calling for prayers and peace as details continue to unfold. We share the message of Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe, and of Archbishop Hosam Naoum, bishop of the Diocese of Jerusalem, who sent a letter to the people of his diocese this morning. And, finally, we pray fervently for the people in every region under attack; all the people in and of the Holy Land; for the leaders who have the power to stop this violence; and for our Episcopal siblings currently on pilgrimage in the Holy Land and nearby areas, thankfully safe at the moment as they await an opportunity to return home safely.

Should you wish to contact your elected representatives about this morning’s actions, The Episcopal Church’s Office of Government Relations has provided a customizable and direct message you can send.

O God, you made us in your own image and redeemed us through Jesus your Son: Look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
