The racist post of a sitting president demands a response from all of us who live by the values and teachings of Jesus and our baptismal covenant. His refusal to take responsibility and apologize for his actions demands it even more so.
Repentance and amendment of life are the steps the gospel calls us to take when we have violated the dignity of another person. This president has repeatedly violated that dignity.
We call on President Trump to repent, to acknowledge his responsibility, amend his indecent and indefensible behavior, and demonstrate respect for the dignity of every human being or cease and desist his presidency.
