With Lent quickly approaching–Ash Wednesday is February 18–we have gathered resources for Ash Wednesday, Lent and Holy Week from our partners throughout The Episcopal Church. Browse the links below to find the right practice for your church, your family or yourself.
Diocesan Book Read: ‘Church Hurt’
Thursdays, February 19-March 26, 12-1 p.m., via Zoom
The Discipleship, Race and Social Justice Committee invites you to join them for a diocesan-wide book reading and lunchtime discussion of Church Hurt: Reparations for My Soul: Healing Racialized Trauma by Gayle Fisher-Stewart. Note we will read the second edition of the book.
As more and more faith communities deal with the effects of anti-Black racism and a racialized society, and are figuring out how to repair the spiritual, emotional and physical damage that affects generations of their people, are these communities prepared to do the hard work of reparations and deal with the accompanying backlash those efforts will invite? Do our churches want to become trauma informed?
Daily Meditations from Episcopal Relief & Development
Beginning on Ash Wednesday, Episcopal Relief & Development is offering daily Lenten Meditations in English and Spanish, inviting readers to reflect upon and deepen their spiritual practices.
This year, the organization has partnered with Sister Monica Clare—Episcopal nun, best-selling author and unlikely TikTok star—to create meditations that explore the theme of “Holy Habits.” In her meditations, Sister Monica Clare reflects on the Scripture readings for Vespers (Evening Prayer) to encourage habits that support and strengthen a life of faith.
Gratitude Resources from United Thank Offering
UTO’s Lenten materials for 2026 are inspired by the book The Serviceberry: Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World by Robin Wall Kimmerer. This book takes a look at how the natural world functions via a gift economy as plants, animals, soil and other aspects of the natural world share what they have for the common good. Offerings include daily text messages and an online book group.
Ash Wednesday and Lent Toolkit from Building Faith
In this year’s toolkit, you will find a selection of Building Faith’s articles for Lent, including the following:
- Pancake Supper Survival Guide for Shrove Tuesday gatherings and celebrations
- Activity ideas like canceling medical debts, creating art, and baking to engage members of all ages in the Lenten season
- The popular Lent in a Bag guide for formation at home
- Our Top Picks for Devotionals as well as for Catechesis & Confirmation Curriculum to support those preparing candidates for baptism and confirmation at Easter
- Lesson plans for talking about death with children and for addressing creation care during Lent
Lent Madness from Forward Movement
Thirty-two saints, five rounds and one Golden Halo–Lent Madness is back with the 16th installment of its March Madness-style bracket. Each day, participants learn about two saints and vote for the one they think should advance toward the Golden Halo. It’s a fun way to be inspired by the example of saints ancient and modern.
More from The Episcopal Church
The Episcopal Church has curated additional resources for formation, liturgy and preaching throughout Lent. The Office of Communications has also produced two downloadable videos for use by your congregation. The videos, available in English, Spanish, and French, can be customized with information about your congregation’s service times through PowerPoint or Canva. Instructions and video files can be found in each language.
